Core & Flexibility
The core and flexibility classes are designed to help you get the most out of your training and help your body reach it's full potential.
Your core muscles are a sturdy central link in a chain connecting your upper and lower body. Whether you're punching, kicking or wrestling, the necessary movements either originate in your core, or move through it.
No matter where the motions starts, it ripples upward and downward to adjoining links of the chain. Thus, weak or inflexible core muscles can impair how well your arms and legs function and that inhibits many of the moves we use in Mixed Martial Arts.
Properly building up your core cranks up the power. A strong core also enhances your balance and stability.
Flexibility in MMA is very important when it comes to the range of motion in your techniques. It relieves joint stress and decreases general aches and pains, and alsoincreases the speed of your techniques, which means faster punches and kicks.
Many people overlook flexibility thinking it’s a measure of whether you can touch your toes or how high you can kick. It goes so much further than that! With a more dynamic range in motion, mixed with the flexibility and control of that range of motion, it becomes much easier to manoeuvre your body into the position you want when on the ground. Being able to transition from one to another becomes much easier.
The core and flexibility classes are run by our head coach Cris Brown, a 5-time Olympic Wrestler, BJJ Black Belt and Professional MMA fighter.
